There are opportunities for lab technicians and laboratory scientists – you’ll be applying straight to the company offering the apprenticeship, and competition can be high, so make sure you do your research and get your application in early. To hear more about our undergraduate Teaching Labs, visit our video: Chemistry Teaching Laboratory. Work placements/international opportunities I would have liked the methyl orange indicator pictures to be updated as the colour changes could be clearer, otherwise my only criticism is the book has been released after schools have made their investments for the new curriculum. The likelihood of obtaining a class set of these books now is greatly reduced.College tutorials are central to teaching at Oxford. Typically, they take place in your college and are led by your academic tutor(s) who teach as well as do their own research. Students will also receive teaching in a variety of other ways, depending on the course. This will include lectures and classes, and may include laboratory work and fieldwork. However, tutorials offer a level of personalised attention from academic experts unavailable at most universities. Candidates are required to have Chemistry and Mathematics to A-level, Advanced Higher, or Higher Level in the IB or any other equivalent. Covering all GCSE specifications, this tried and tested series has been fully updated to match the new (9-1) GCSE Chemistry specifications, as well as international specifications. With a focus on science, concepts develop naturally, engaging students and enabling them to get a thorough understanding of Chemistry. Chemistry for You has been updated for the 2016 (9–1) GCSE chemistry and international specifications. Having clung on to my 2001 copy as a lifeline to introduce essential chemical concepts throughout my teaching career, I welcome the 5 th edition with open arms. Additional sections give you help on: Maths skills required in the new specifications, practical skills to be tested in your written examinations, study skills, revision and exam technique, thinking about a career in Biology.
